Phoenix-born, award-winning, international artist Antoinette Cauley draws her inspiration from the grittiness and beauty within her place of birth. Her work is heavily influenced by Black American hood culture with a feminist undertone and an overall focus of Black empowerment. Along with her unique and distinguishable paintings, Cauley is most known for her nine stories tall mural of Civil Rights activist, James Baldwin in downtown Phoenix, and her recent mural project with Brittney Griner & the Phoenix Mercury. By emphasizing the beauty in the many complexities of Black American Hood culture and Black hood feminism, Antoinette’s work portrays the depth and resilience of a demographic whose complete essence is consistently robbed for profit while their own bodies and stories are carelessly cast aside.

Arizona-born, award-winning photographer Joan Wood captures the raw and rugged beauty of Arizona’s Wild West storms and atmospheric phenomena. Joan’s family of adventurous outdoor enthusiasts fueled her fascination with the history of the Wild West around her.  The Sonoran and Mojave deserts, veiled in night, become both a photographer’s battleground and sanctuary for capturing its nocturnal light.  From low-desert cacti forests, to barren badlands of the High desert and obscure, isolated ghost towns, Joan reveals the raw, untamed forces that shape these landscapes.  Joan is inspired to capture and document structures and landscapes that seem to hold their own untamed stories, and is driven by a desire to preserve and share these historic elements.  Joan is determined to capture their legacy before modern development erases them. For her, once history is gone, its story is forgotten.
